Biki is a really chilled pony who loves his carrots.  He loves to swim at the beach and is quite a good little jumper although he’s more enthusiastic about swimming as jumping takes more energy. He is used to greeting new riders, and is used for our Eagala programme and for our outreach programme where he visits retirement and nursing homes.

Lily is a great confidence builder for nervous people or people who are new to being around horses. She Joins Biki in the Eagala programme and the outreach programme she is loved and adored by all that meet her.

Raz is a real character and super fun to have around.  He previously did farm hacking and joined our team in 2017 where he has fitted in perfectly. He was purchased for us by Farmer Auto Village.

Jessie is our newest member who is super cheeky and very handsome.  He has done pony club and ribbon days previously. He has transitioned well into our programmes and enjoys his busy lifestyle.

Zena is a really fun pony. She is short and stocky and just loves her food.  She is forward moving but gentle and kind. She is brilliant for our riders in intensive therapy and is also perfectly behaved when riders come to do more complicated moves like four-point kneeling! Zena is on loan to us by Wally and Karen Neiderer

Cracker is a lovely boy from a station in the Wairarapa. He is a trained stock horse and in his past job has even pulled cows out of bogs with his tail. He is a beautiful chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail and a great favourite with our young volunteers.

He is on loan to us by Michael & Sarah Whyte

Honey had a foal before she came to RDA in 2010. She is a light bay with two white socks and is very gentle and sweet and loves being groomed and fussed over. The sound of clapping excites her tremendously – memories of her days as a successful show horse. Honey is a star RDA horse.

Isaac is a kind natured unflappable fellow who loves people and loves to do his job.  He has always been treated kindly by his past owners and is very friendly but not at all pushy. He is an exceptional pony.

Chester joined the Rda in November 2016. He came off a staion where he has been his entire life.

Kimmy joined the therapy team in 2016 and was a gift from long-time volunteer, Neil Flemming and his wife Kay. She has great presence and has a beautiful nature and her size is a perfect fit for our bigger riders

Mt Rotary Scooby is very handsome and quite a cheeky little fellow.

He loves his hay and is not above trying to get more than his fair share by stealing from the horse in the stall next door to him. Mt Rotary Scooby is a great little therapy horse and much loved by the children who ride him.

He was generously purchased for us by The Rotary Club of Mt Maunganui and they now sponsor him.

Scotty started his career as a racehorse after his retirement he went on to become a trekking horse. he joined the Tauranga RDA team October 2016. He immediately proved himself to be a valuable part of the team. He is a sweet natured boy and easy to ride off the lead.

Betty who has been with RDA since 2010. She has been very well trained both in western riding and English riding. Betty has been named after Betty Blundell who started up Tauranga RDA in 1975

Rawenga Santa is a very handsome boy. He is a very gentle chap and has a wonderful nature. Santa loves people and will always be first to come over to people who go into the paddock. He loves to be groomed and cuddled and enjoys jumping and going for rides on the beach.

Topaz is a very beautiful mare both to look at and as a ‘person’. She has a stunning flaxen mane and tail and is a kind and loving mare who is a greatly valued member of our therapy team

Sarge is a young man who has been in training with us since June 2016. He has a lovely friendly nature, but is still quite cheeky. Hopefully Sarge will train up to become a valuable part of our team.
